Southern Kent Island (SKI) SEWER Project Status

 

Phase 1 of the Southern Kent Island Sanitary Sewer project is nearly complete. The County approved construction bids on 8/23/16 for Phase1 and construction began in January 2017.  It has been a huge and successful project to connect 774 homes in Kent Island Estates and Romancoke on the Bay to the Kent Island Public Sewer System served by the Kent Island treatment plant.

 

Phase 1 of the SKI project included construction of a sewer force main along Rt 8 from Kent Island Estates, under Rt. 50, and over to the treatment plan near the Business Park.  STEP tanks (Septic Tank Effluent Pump) were installed on properties with existing homes and connected to the community mains.  Sewer taps were installed at the street for vacant lots eligible for construction permits for future homes.

 

The contractor on Phase 1 will continue to work on yard restoration and other punch list items in Kent Island Estates and Romancoke on the Bay for the next month.
